Inauguration Special: Hints of Greatness

As we have the Inaugural Address of Barack Obama today, all of us in this country are hopeful that we are getting ready to launch a new, positive era in American history. It is a lot for one person to carry, but many of us -- me included -- believe we are on the cusp of a historic presidency.

It had me wondering about others at the beginning of their careers. Are there moments captured where we got a glimpse of the greatness that would unfold over the rest of their professional lives? I thought of a few, but wondered if you all had examples of great public people -- politicians, athletes, musicians, writers, etc. -- you'd share here.

To get the ball rolling, I'll start with a few:

Michael Jordan, at 17 years old, hitting the championship-game winner over Georgetown in 1982

Mohandas Gandhi organizing peasants in 1915.

Led Zeppelin's first LP

And what greatness is to come next?

Matt Ryan's first NFL pass went for a touchdown. BTW, his last pass in his rookie season also went for a touchdown.

I look forward to hearing from you and adding to the list!
